Inspirations from past and future characterise bodywear for the Spring/Summer 2001 season.
The wealth of ideas means consumers' eclectic tastes are met both in terms of their demands for individuality and, especially for garments worn right to the skin, their demands for maximum comfort for a greater sense of well-being.
The borders between seductive sensuality and functional performance, fragile transparency and the compact from, between inner and outer wear are now blurring even further...
Whether cool cyber style or the decorative and elaborate souk chic, new technologies ensure that bodywear in the new 21st century provides tender, loving care for both body and soul.

SOUL CHIC

Inspiration:
An homage to the souks and bazaars of Marrakech and the Orient with their cultures and craft traditions.
Oriental aromas and a touch of hippy flair mix with future-oriented technology in real time resulting in a contemporary luxurious look that delights in seductive femininity.

Styling:
Sleek to even sporty basic forms highlight the magnificent fabrics here.
Triangle and underwired bras or debardeurs with string tangas and hip-hight hot shorts and panties.
Decorative slip dresses with bust sections finished with loving attention to detail are nice to show of in.
Vest/brief sets and vest tops with incorporated bras, strapless bustiers and bandeaux tops with secret support.
Retro aspects are provided by teddies (vest cum panties), camisoles and petticoats.
Comfortable djelabahs with high side slits, caftan ensembles for night and hommewear and silk dressing gowns and multi-functional pareos for cocooning at home.

Fabrics:
Magnificent to opulent looks with romantic flair and a touch of poetry, delicate and fragile.
Seductive transparency and semitransparency featuring embroidered tulle, mousselines and gauze effects, veil-like jerseys and open-work patterns.
Nostalgic, delightful mono and multi-coloured embroidery and imitation embroidery thanks to new printing and flock printing technologies - in floral, oriental or border-like interpretations.
Old lace looks for flat fabrics and ribbons.
Oriental ornamental silk jacquards, brocade effects and aged velvet looks.
Flower and floral prints on open backgrounds.
Offset edges thanks to festoons, embroidery, piping and relief trims.
Additional embellishment through beads, gems, lacing, sequins, appliquéd passementerie, covered buttons, gold and copper threads, gathers, smocking, crinkling, origami pleats, plisse - also as a crossover of styles for highlighted sporty silhouettes.

Colours:
Voile and rich yet slightly aged looking colours characterised by the oriental spices and fruits of the souk.
Curry and mango tones through to golden yellow, gold and copper; the pink and red group ranges from glowing mauve and pomegranate through to Burgundy; royal to petrol blue; greyish earth and wood through to anthracite.
Also radiant white as a background for coloured for coloured decors.

CYBER STYLE

Inspiration:
The cosmos and the virtual world are mutating into reality.
Curvaceous, trim, Lara Croft-type career women symbolise modernity here.
Self-confidence and new body dressing.
High-tech characterise the performance fabrics, styling and colours.

Styling:
Spacey and sporty touches with sculptured silhouettes, accentuated by architectural lines.
Almost invisible bra and brief combinations in skin tones.
Bustiers and geometrically cut pants and slips sitting on the hips or above the waist are reminiscent of gym wear.
Strapless stretch bustiers and tube-like stretchtops worn over bras, bandeaux tops, figure-hugging vest/brief sets in a body look.
Co-ordinated arm warmers and cropped tops.

Men:
Snug fitting, athletic underwear with geometric, symmetric and asymmetric neck and arm ideas, trunks that are waist-high or sit on the hips plus sleeveless V-neck tops.

Fabrics:
Membrane-like fabrics - flattering like a second skin - shimmery like a film or powdery and matt.
Futuristically reflective jerseys and film looks.
Coatings that look as if covered in gel.
Shimmery waffle and bunched-up rib looks in soft micro-fibres.
Intelligent high-tech fabrics with "inner values" to increase your sense of well-being:
figure-forming, anti-static, anti-bac, with moisturiser, anti-odour and anti-sweat.
Techno crafting thanks to laser perforation, cut-outs, stamped eyelets, embossing, stick-ons, moulding, open edging, hidden support and invisible shaping.
Contrasting graphic patterns. Invisible plastic film straps, Velcro fasteners, clips and seamless technology are gaining even more ground here.

Colours:
Galactically inspired, overexposed looking tones with an aluminium shimmer.
White and off-white tones, from make-up-derived skin tones to soft beige and delicate rose; milky pale green, bleu and sulphur yellow.
The entire range of cosmic blues through to nearly black midnight blue and storm grey.
Phosphor tones for sporty over prints and as accents.
